RICHMOND, Va. (Apr. 7, 2026) –Towson junior Baara Stewart, Elon sophomore Isabella Johnson, N.C. A&T junior Isaiah Taylor, and N.C. A&T sophomore Ty’Heak Buie earned CAA outdoor track and field weekly award recognition for their performances last weekend.
 
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Baara Stewart, Towson 
Junior | Distance | Olney, Md. / Washington Christian Academy

Steward collected her first CAA Outdoor Track and Field honor of the season after resetting two program records at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational. The Olney, Md. Finished first in the 800m with a 2:05.64 pace, cracking the nation’s top-50 performances and ranking first in the CAA. Stewart also placed third in the 1500m with a Tigers’ record 4:29.08 finish.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Isabella Johnson, Elon
Sophomore | Throws | Prattville, Ala. / Montgomery Academy

Johnson set personal records in her three events at the VertKlasse Meeting. Her lone win came in the discus throw, tossing it an impressive 50.58m (165’ 11”). Johnson claimed second in the hammer throw with a 60.05m (197’ 0”) toss to post the top mark in the CAA this season. She also placed sixth in the shot put with the second-best throw in the conference this campaign at 14.40m (47’3”).
 

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Isaiah Taylor, N.C. A&T
Junior | Sprints/Hurdles | Decatur, Ga. / SW Dekalb

Taylor had a standout Saturday, producing nationally ranked performances at the Florida Relays. In the 110m hurdles, the junior placed fourth with a 13.77 split and took the top spot in the CAA and 23rd nationally. Alongside three other Aggies, Taylor ran a 3:03.47 race in the 4x400 for the sixth-best time in the nation and first in the conference.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ty’Heak Buie, N.C. A&T
Sophomore | Jumps | Woodbridge, Va. / Potomac

Buie excelled in the men’s triple jump, placing second at the prestigious Florida Relays. In his first appearance of the season, the junior surpassed his teammate, Xavier Partee, for the top mark in the CAA with a 15.50m (50’ 10.25”) leap. The top mark by .23m, Buie’s performance also ranks 23rd nationally.
