Drexel's Andreopoulos, UNCW's Carrico, Towson's Tennell Headline CAA Men's Swimming & Diving Awards

RICHMOND, Va. (April 10, 2026) – Drexel junior Theo Andreopoulos and UNCW junior William Carrico shared CAA Men's Swimmer of the Year honors, while Towson senior Sam Tennell was selected as the CAA Men's Diver of the Year in a vote by the league's head coaches.
 
Joining Andreopoulos, Carrico and Tennell as 2025-26 award winners in men's swimming and diving were Monmouth freshman Izan Arroyo Lopez del Castillo as Men’s Rookie Swimmer of the Year, UNCW freshman Brendan Doe as Men’s Rookie Diver of the Year, Towson's Anthony Bruno as Men's Swimming Coaches of the Year and Towson’s Sergey Meshcherskiy as Men’s Diving Coach of the Year.


 
Andreopoulos is Drexel’s first CAA Swimmer of the Year since 2016. The junior was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer at the CAA Championship after claiming seven gold medals. He was the CAA champion in the 50 free (19.60), 100 back (46.83) and 200 back (1:42.00). Andreopoulos was also a member of the Dragons’ first-place 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 free and 400 free relay teams, with the 400 free team setting a CAA all-time record (2:52.00). Andreopoulos competed in the 200 back at the NCAA Championship, where he placed 36th overall with a CAA-record time of 1:41.58.

Carrico is UNCW’s first CAA Swimmer of the Year since 2010. The junior took home golds and was an NCAA qualifier in both the 200 IM with a CAA-record time of 1:42:09 and the 400 IM (3:42.15). He was also second in the 200 breast (1:53.14) with an NCAA standard time. Carrico was a member of the Seahawks’ first-place 800 free relay team and second-place teams in the 200 medley and 400 free relays. At the NCAA Championship, Carrico finished 20th in the 400 IM with a CAA-record time of 3:42.15 and placed 24th in the 200 IM (1:43.33).
 
Tennell is Towson’s first CAA Diver of the Year since 2014. The senior was chosen as the Most Outstanding Diver at the CAA Championship after earning gold in the 1-meter competition with a score of 319.55 and claiming silver on the 3-meter board with a score of 322.10. He competed in the NCAA Zone A meet, where he placed 25th in the 1-meter event (279.75) and 38th in the 3-meter event (259.25).
 
Arroyo Lopez del Castillo is Monmouth’s first major award winner since joining the CAA. The freshman earned bronze in the 1650 free (15:22.70) at the CAA Championship and placed sixth in the 400 IM (3:52.43) and seventh in the 500 free (4:24.88). He was also a member of the Hawks’ 400 medley, 400 free and 800 free relay teams. Arroyo Lopez del Castillo set program records in the 400 IM and 500 free at the CAA Championship, and the 200 free, 1000 free and 1650 free during the season.

Doe is UNCW’s third Rookie Diver of the Year in the past five seasons. The freshman captured bronze in the 3-meter competition at the CAA Championship with a score of 304.15. He also placed sixth on the 1-meter board with a score of 255.90.

Bruno was selected as the Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year for the second time. Towson placed second at the CAA Championship, which was its best finish since 2021. The Tigers compiled 789 points, which was their most points in five years, and took home five gold medals.

Meshcherskiy received Men’s Diving Coach of the Year honors for the first time. He helped Tennell claim gold and silver medals at the CAA Championship, while senior Aidan Clark earned bronze on the 1-meter board and fourth in the 3-meter event.

In addition to the 2025-26 major award winners in men's swimming and diving, the following individuals and relay teams received All-CAA accolades based on their performances at the CAA Championship.
