CO-WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Competing in just her second collegiate tournament, Avallone claimed a share of the individual title at the Elon Invitational to help lead the Tribe to a second-place finish at the 15-team tournament on Tuesday. The Bethesda, Md., product charged up the leaderboard during the final day with a bogey-free, 3-under 68 to finish the 54-hole tournament with a 3-under 210 (71-71-68) and tie with Elon's Downer. She birdied two of the final three holes to secure a share of the individual title. Avallone’s performance tied for the third-best 54-hole score to par in school history, while her final round tied for the fifth-best score to par in school history.
CO-WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Lilli Downer, Elon
Sophomore | Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Downer battled over the final two rounds to find herself at the top of the leaderboard with a 3-under 210 (73-69-71) in the Elon Invitational alongside Avallone. After shooting 1-over in the opening round, the Canadian fired away four birdies and an eagle before posting a 3-under 68 in the second round. The sophomore closed out the competition with a 1-under 70 to earn co-medalist honors at her team’s home event. Downer also matched Avallone with nine birdies on the weekend, while also being one of three golfers to sink an eagle.
MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Drew Yeagley, Elon
Sophomore | Waxhaw, N.C.
Yeagley produced a top-five finish in a field of 100 golfers at the JT Poston Invitational, posting a 10-under 203 and sitting tied for fourth. Against the likes of N.C. State, South Carolina, Southern Mississippi, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin, the sophomore unloaded a bogey-free, 6-under 65 in the opening round. He followed up with an even better round two, carding a collegiate-low 7-under 64 with seven birdies and an eagle on the 10
th hole. Yeagley picked up his third career top-five finish, while posting his 11th top-20 mark in 12 collegiate tournaments.
