CAA Football Offensive Player of the Week
Seth Sweitzer, Sr., WR, Stony Brook (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand)
Sweitzer made 12 receptions for 157 yards and a touchdown as Stony Brook rallied past Lindenwood, 36-32, last Thursday. His 29-yard TD grab brought the Seawolves within 22-14 in the third quarter and his 55-yard fourth-quarter catch set up a TD that cut the deficit to two. The 12 receptions are the most by a CAA player since 2024 and he’s the 21
st SBU player to exceed 150 receiving yards.
CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week
AJ Benton, So., LB, Campbell (Roswell, Ga./Milton)
Benton contributed a career-high eight tackles, a sack, a TFL and a pass breakup to help Campbell knock off #24 Western Carolina, 28-19, on Sunday. The sophomore was part of a stellar defensive effort by the Camels, who held WCU to one yard rushing and to its lowest point total against an FCS opponent since facing Campbell in 2024.
CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week
Codey Larkins, R-Fr., DB, Elon (Knightdale, N.C./Clayton)
Larkins delivered a pair of big special teams plays that led to 10 points in Elon’s 38-0 win at Davidson. The redshirt freshman recovered a muffed punt on the DC 23-yard line that set up a first-quarter field goal. In the second quarter, he blocked a punt and recovered it at the DC 7-yard line, leading to a Phoenix TD that made it 17-0. Larkins had two tackles in the game.
CAA Football Rookie of the Week
Kamerin McDowell-Moore, Fr., RB, Elon (Tarboro, N.C./Tarboro)
McDowell-Moore carried 15 times for a team-high 88 yards and two touchdowns in Elon’s 38-0 victory at Davidson. His 29-yard scoring run put the Phoenix up 10-0 in the second quarter and he added a 1-yarder in the fourth period, becoming the first EU true freshman to score two TD’s since 2015. McDowell-Moore also forced a fumble on a kick return.
