CAA Men's Lacrosse Tiebreaker Procedures

Seeding for the championship will be based on regular season round robin competition. Per Conference COVID policy for the 2021-22 academic year, if a Conference game cannot be rescheduled and / or played the game would be considered a forfeit (loss) for the cancelling team, and a victory (win) for the opposing team. The score would be reflected as 1-0 for each game not played for purposes of calculating goal differential and goals scored. Per NCAA policy, the game would not count in the team’s overall record.

1. Head-to-head competition.

2. Three or More Tied Teams:

a. Compare the combined record of each of the tied teams against the other teams involved in the tie until an advantage is gained. (Example: team A’s combined  record against both team B and team C as compared to B’s combined record against both A and C, etc.).

b. If the multiple tie still exists, compare each tied team’s record against the team occupying the highest position in the standings and continue down through the  standings until the tie is reduced to a two-team tie (at which time, revert to the two-team process), or until one team gains the advantage, thereby winning the  higher position.

c. If a tie still exists, compare the goal differential of the tied teams in all conference games. The team with the best goal differential is removed from the tie and becomes the higher seed. Head-to-head competition between the two remaining teams will determine the next higher seed.

d. Competition against common non-conference opponents.

e. If a tie still exists, a coin flip conducted by the Commissioner will be used.
