(Oct. 27, 2022) – Delaware field hockey, Hofstra women’s soccer, and the majority of cross country teams will compete in NCAA Championships this weekend, while a CAA title will be decided in men’s soccer and a tournament field will be set in volleyball. On the basketball court, the first weekend of the 2022-23 season is full of marquee matchups.

Men’s Soccer
Elon hosts Hofstra Saturday with the CAA title on the line at Rudd Field. The Phoenix and Pride will square off in a rematch of last year’s final at noon on FloFC – a preview is available HERE.

Volleyball
It’s the final week of the regular season in CAA Volleyball, with tournament seeding and the final spot in the CAA tournament to be decided. Seven teams – Charleston, Delaware, Elon, Hofstra, Northeastern, Towson and William & Mary – have secured berths to the CAA Championships, while newcomers North Carolina A&T and Stony Brook remain in contention to be the final team in the field.

At SECU Arena, where the 2022 CAA Volleyball Championship presented by Primis will take place next week, the regular season title and the top seed in the conference tournament are on the line. Hofstra enters the weekend 14-0 in conference play, marking the Pride’s best start to a season since joining the CAA. The three-time defending champions, Towson is 13-1 in league play, trailing by one match in the standings. Since 2013 Hofstra and Towson have split 18 matches in the series, including a season split last fall. Last season Hofstra’s victory over Towson ended a 12-match winning streak for the Tigers, and Towson will look to return the favor by doing what no other conference team has been able to do this fall. Hofstra can clinch the regular season title and the top seed in the conference tournament with one win, while Towson needs a weekend sweep to win the regular season title for the third straight season.

First-time conference matchups between Charleston and North Carolina A&T, as well as Elon and Stony Brook, feature one team attempting to clinch the final spot in the conference tournament and the other looking to improve its seeding for next week. Charleston hosts North Carolina A&T as both teams look to rebound from back-to-back losses. The teams have played twice previously, but not since 2010. The Cougars won the previous matchup, while the Aggies won the first go-around as the all-time series sits at one match apiece. Meanwhile, when Elon entertains Stony Brook, it will be the first-ever matchup between the programs on the volleyball court. The Phoenix has heated up down the stretch, winning five matches in a row, and looks to earn a top-three seed in the CAA Tournament while the Seawolves attempt to end the year strong and qualify for the conference tournament in their inaugural season. | Weekend Schedule
