CAA Football Countdown To Kickoff - North Carolina A&T
Rob Washburn
Our CAA Football Countdown To Kickoff continues with a look at the North Carolina A&T Aggies. Shawn Gibbs returns to Greensboro as the new head coach at A&T after spending 11 seasons as an assistant during a period when the program captured five MEAC titles from 2014-19. He will try to restore that winning tradition after a 1-11 (0-8 CAA) campaign in 2024.
A&T plans to build its offense around a physical running game. Returning for the Aggies in the backfield are Shimique Blizzard, who ran for a team-high 431 yards and 3 TD's last season, and Wesley Graves, who piled up 397 yards in 2023 and tallied 225 yards in four games a year ago before suffering an injury. They will run behind an offensive line that is led by preseason All-American Korion Sharpe.
On defense, linebacker Mack David II recorded 51 tackles in only seven games last season. The secondary brings back Aaron Harris (30 tackles, 9 PBU's), who is also one of the top kick returners in FCS, and Steven Davis II (45 tackles).
Check back each day as we preview all 14 CAA Football members.
